Uffizi Galleries (Gallerie degli Uffizi)

Tues–Sun 8:15am–6:50pm
Piazza degli Uffizi, Florence, Tuscany, 50125

The Basics

Due to its immense popularity, the Uffizi Galleries is prone to long lines and extensive wait times—it's best to book skip-the-line admission to maximize your time. The gallery features a number of long, winding art-filled hallways, making it near-impossible to see everything on display, so small-group guided tours and self-guided audio tours are recommended to help you see the top pieces and give some context to the works you’re viewing. A visit is often combined with a stop at the nearby Accademia Gallery, which houses the Statue of David.

Our guide was friendly, engaging, and knowledgeable. Also, as a self-appointed gelato expert, she pointed out the best gelato stops along the route. A big plus!

Standing next to David is something everyone should experience. We had a delay getting into the museum and had to leave our tour, but our wonderful guide made sure we had tickets to come back later.

Skip the line: Uffizi and Accademia small group hidden street walking tour
We were able to see the highlights of Florence's art (although there is so much to see) including Michaelangelo's David and Botticelli's Venus...our guide, Guido, was charming and knowledgeable and it was a small tour only four of us and fellow New Yorkers which made it more fun!

Veronica was amazing! We are not what I would call art lovers. But we really enjoyed the tour. She was perfect for pointing out the important pieces and teaching us why they are important. Well worth the money.

What Not To Miss at the Uffizi Galleries

Although art enthusiasts are bound to enjoy every piece, a few highlights include the Medici collection (gifted to the museum in the 18th century) and the Caravaggio works on the first floor. Other must-sees include Botticelli’sThe Birth of Venus; da Vinci's only completed panel painting,The Annunciation; and Titian'sVenus of Urbino. Together with Raphael’s portraits and Michelangelo’sTondo Doni, these works signify the height of the Italian Renaissance.
