Venice Sunset Cruise by Typical Venetian Boat

Wonderful trip! Views of Venice you normally don't get, plus a lot of interesting information about the City, the surrounding islands and the overall history. The skipper was friendly, humerous and well informed and he made us feel welcome right from the beginning. If you want to see Venice from outside the beaten tracks and have a really great time get onboard.

My partner and I visited Venice for the first time and we had booked this boat tour to finish our trip off. We had an excellent tour guide and the weather was lovely. I would highly recommend this tour, this really is worth the money, you see a lot more than the typical 'gondola' ride. The tour guide was informative and gave us an insight into the history of Venice all whilst we took photos and sipped wine!

We met our guide/boat near the Fondamente Nove vaporetto stop, easy to find. The boat is open and small, only room for about 10 people, so guaranteed to be a small group. I cannot say enough about our captain/skipper Tommaso, personable, great information, quite a character really. The 2 hours of cruising in the canal went by too fast, we could've spent twice as long and not been ready to go yet. Seeing the main island of Venice from the water, and going past many other islands in the lagoon, something that must be experienced, a great way to see Venice, away from the crowds.

Our sunset cruise on a typical Venetian boat was a fantastic experience! Our guide, Tomasso was excellent. His historical knowledge of all the islands was delivered in both an informative and entertaining way. The weather was iffy the day of our cruise, with a thunderstorm in Venice that occurred at around 3pm. Tomasa was in contact via email several times that afternoon regarding the storm and to our delight informed us that the storm would pass and our cruise would happen as scheduled. The cruise took us to other islands and Tomasso’s knowledge of their history was amazing! We were able to see parts of Venice we would not have seen. It was a beautiful evening and something I would highly recommend to anyone visiting Venice. In fact, we recommended this excursion to other people we met while we were in Italy and told them when booking to ask for Tomasso if possible!

We had an amazing time. Our guide was very knowledgeable and helpful. Although the weather wasn’t ideal, we still had a great time and learned plenty about the area we never would have learned.

The best time to take this Cruise is the last sailing because it's when the sun begins to set, making all the sights one sees from the water look very attractive. Though everything was expertly set up for us by Il Bragozzo's kindly owner, Tommaso Serantoni, it was with Captain Jean Baptiste that we sailed into the vast Venetian waters. Jean Baptiste ensured that throughout most of the Tour we were shown unseen facets of Venice-lesser known areas of the city, islands that tourists would never know existed, a military boat yard, luxury hotels so exclusive, that unless you took this Cruise you would never know that they existed! With Jean Baptiste's commentary it felt as if we were being let in on and shown secrets in and around Venice that other tourists would not even know of. He made whatever he showed us so exciting, that we couldn't wait until he took us to the next marvel. We heard about victims of the plague, saw aboandoned settlemts, saw a University ensconed on an island and much more. The icing on the cake was the glorious views of Venice city, namely of Piazza San Marco and it's environs that we saw from the water bathed in the light of the setting sun. The boat used for the Tour is entirely open, plus it can't accommodate many people, so the entire experience of this Tour is vey intimate and immersive. Complimentary wine and soft drinks are served on board. However, if you're a teetotaller it's best to mention this at the time of making the booking because most times they may just only have a chilled bottle of wine on board and nothing else! At the end of the Tour, Jean Baptiste very kindly recommended restaurants and advised each group on how to find their way to their next destination from the boat drop off point. Good but not super great. I guess it's not what we were expecting. The boat is motorized with uncomfortable narrow bench seating considering its a two hour ride. The tour travels the outer waters of Venice only, and we didn't each receive our own half bottle of Prosecco as advertised. Seven of us shared one bottle of Prosecco drank out of scratched clean?? plastic champagne glasses our captain pulled from his well-used backpack. Our captain was very accommodating and loved sharing his knowledge of his home city, this was the best highlight of the tour. For the price we paid for this tour, I wish we had hired an expensive gondola instead.

This trip exceeded our expectations. Gian showed us corners of the Venetian Lagoon that we would never have seen. He gave us the rich history of the Serene Republic with true passion for the history. All of this while sipping Prosecco as the sun sank behind St Marks! Truly a Memorable trip.

A great way to see the islands. There were only the 3 of us in the group so a very small tour. Tommaso our guide and captain was brilliant and had so many suggestions for our visit, absolutely great! The timing seemed early at 4.30 but the lighting was beautiful and the whole experience so relaxing

This private sunset cruise was awesome and I guide was awesome!!! We learned so much from him about Venice and the surrounding islands. One of the highlights of our trip!!!
